Back in January, news of the earthquake in Haiti saturated the media and sparked a never-before-seen utilization of social networking as a means of providing aid. If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of the millions of people who immediately donated to one organization or another in an effort to try and help. You’re also probably wondering where you’re money went and if anyone was actually helped by your donation. Time has passed, and most have all but forgotten the earthquake in Haiti and the complete and utter devastation it left behind. The country is in ruins and, not surprisingly, the relief we all thought we were contributing to is nowhere to be found.

We shared an unjustifiably emotional hug and wished each other a good festival and right then and there it hit me; it sounded so much like Shabbat Shalom that I couldn’t help but realize that between the hands, the music, the lights, the one man conductor, it was starting to feel a lot like Temple (or at least the way Temple should be).
